POWDERLY – Douglas Sumner, 75, of Powderly, died Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at 11:22AM at his home. Mr. Sumner was born October 25, 1941, in Muhlenberg County. He was a retired coal yard supervisor with Kentucky Utilities, and a member of Woodson Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his son, Scott Sumner; parents Floyd and Audrey Sumner; brothers James Sumner and Earl Sumner; and sisters Vonell Litton, Kathleen Pendley, and Melba Sauls. He is survived by his wife, Janie Tucker Sumner; son Brian (Mamata) Sumner of Lexington; daughter Kelly (Daniel) Arbuckle of Belton; granddaughter Brittany Sumner of Greenville; brothers Amon Sumner of Ebenezer and Floyd (Hattie) Sumner, Jr., of Indiana; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Saturday, August 12, 2017, at 11:00AM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Bro. Nick Duvall officiating and Bro. Mike Neal assisting.
