GREENVILLE – Dorothy Tuck Newman Moore, 98, of Greenville, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2026 following a lengthy illness, surrounded by her loving family.
Dorothy was born May 28, 1927 in Muhlenberg County. She was a homemaker creating a loving home for her husband of 70 years and four children. She was the youngest of nine children and a deeply spiritual lady. She joined the Methodist Church in Ennis, Ky. and began her service to the Lord by playing the piano for Sunday worship service as a teenager and served as the church secretary. After she married, she moved to Greenville and joined the Greenville United Methodist Church where she continued serving the Lord as a Sunday school teacher, Bible School teacher, and Lay Speaker for the United Methodist Church. She was elected to the conference Board of Laity and served as secretary for three years. She went on to be on the Evangelism committee. She went on to serve as a communion steward, Board member, Vice chairperson of the Board, Chairperson on the council of ministries, Vice Chairperson of missions, President of the United Methodist women and District Treasurer of the United Methodist Women.
Throughout the 60’s and 70’s Dorothy found many ways to serve her community. She served as the PTA president, President of the GHS Band Boosters, served on the Band Booster’s Ways and Means committee and Leader of the Boys Scout Auxiliary. She was always chaperoning field trips, building floats, or organizing community events.
These achievements show just how amazing this little country girl was and how many lives she has touched throughout her 98 years on earth. While she held many titles, she most loved her title of wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother.
