OWENSBORO – Dora Howard Lofland, 74, of Owensboro, died Saturday, May 10, 2014 at her residence in Owensboro. She was born on August 8, 1939 to Paul and Dorretha Howard. She graduated from University of Evansville in 1961, Frontier School of Nurse Midwifery in 1963. She attended Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1964-65. She worked in various nursing positions in Texas, Kentucky and Thailand. In 1968 she married Wilson Lofland. Preceding her in death were her parents and husband. She was a member of Lewis Lane Baptist Church. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school and discipleship classes in various churches. Survivors include her son, Brent (Sherri) Lofland of Greenville, two grandsons, Ren Lofland of Central City and Nicholas Lofland of Greenville, a sister, Jeanette A. Gay of Princeton, TX., a nephew, K. R. Shoemaker III of Princeton, TX., two nieces, Sue Tennison and Gale Terry and a sister in law, Laura (Charles) Atkinson all of Garland, TX., Funeral services will be held at 11:00 Tuesday, May 13. 2014 at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City conducted by Bro. David Wiggins and Bro. Jackie Perkins with burial to follow in the Fairmount Cemetery in Central City. Visitation will be after 5:00 PM Monday and after 8:00 AM Tuesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy will be in the form of donations to the Habitat for Humanity or the Gideon’s International. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
