CENTRAL CITY – Dianna Lynn “Diane” Ray, 51, of Central City, died Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at 3:11AM in Graham. Diane was born June 5, 1962 in Greenville. She was a teacher at Central City Elementary School, and was a member of First Baptist Church in Central City. She was a member of Alpha Iota Teaching Sorority, Central City High School Class of 1980, and Western Kentucky University Class of 1984. She loved to cook, garden, church work, and she loved her boys. She was preceded in death by her father, Buddy Lear; and grandparents J.P. and Dorothy Stringer and T.H. and Thelma Lear. Survivors include her sons, Seth Ray and Hunter Ray, both of Central City; mother Patricia Lear of Central City; and sister Tracy (Tommy) Eades of Gallatin, TN. She was formerly married to Scott Ray. Funeral services will be Friday, September 6, 2013 at 11:00AM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Rev. Bob Lowery officiating. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. Lear ( Diane) I was thinking of you this morning. I can't believe you have been gone for 9 years...4 days before my birthday . I still smile when I think of you with that grin...that laugh. and your witty comments. You will never be forgotten.

I thought of you today.. although i didn't know you that well personally, I've heard nothing but good stories about you. I do remember the day they told us about your death, i was 8, way to young to truly understand what had happened. I remember seeing you in the hallways sometimes, you always had a bright smile on your face, seeing the positivity you brought into this world changed my outlook on life. may you rest in peace.

You are just all over my mind today for some reason Mrs Ray;) You were and are my favorite teacher of all time. You were more than a teacher to me, you was a family friend, you looked out for and took care of me at school as if I was your own child. You would give me rides to my games if I needed one and would even come and watch me play. That meant the world to me;) I will never forget how special you made me feel Mrs Ray. I can still see that smile and that blonde hair just a bouncing coming down the hall way...lol. I can hear that laugh and you saying "there goes my girl". You were very loved Mrs Ray and you still are. I wish I could've been there for you like you were for me. You would be so proud of me now. I love you and miss you so much.

I was glad to get a reminder, it brought back good memories that have replaced the sad ones from a year ago. I think that Diane is still with us, one doesn't forget somebody who is that special. Labor day 15 years ago, we were all at The Everly Brothers Homecoming with Hank Becker, another one who left us too soon. To friends and family, hoping that everyone is well. God Bless

Diane was my "aunt" by marriage for the first part of my childhood...she bought me books, took me to lunch, taught me "ain't" wasn't proper English..lol.. She was so very good to me. ALWAYS! She had the most beautiful smile and laugh a person has ever had. I never heard a word come out of her mouth that was not kind and caring. I was so proud when my son got to have her a teacher so that he could get to know her. She will always remain in my heart. Prayers for Seth, Hunter, Mama Trish, Tracy,and Scott as they go thru this difficult time.

I met Dianna when we were working the hospitality room at North High School for the basketball tournaments. She was so sweet, smiling all the time. I remember that she always had something positive to say, no matter what the situation. She made me feel very comfortable in situations where I definitely was not comfortable. We worked several of those hospitality rooms . Instead of dreading several hours of waiting of various people after a long day at school I found myself looking forward to seeing her smiling faces, funny wit and general good personality. When we would see each other out, she always made sure to speak, say something nice, and seemed very happy and upbeat. I am blessed to have met and worked with her. She will always be a beautiful lady inside and out in my memories. God bless her family.

I lived across the street from Diane until I moved to Louisville when I was 12. Some of my best memories as a child is spending time at the Lear's home, having sleepovers, playing tag at night and just spending time with Diane and Tracy. Whenever Diane crossed my mind, I automatically thought of Princess Dianna. Not only do I think they look very much alike, I also think they had the same personality--kind, gracious, so friendly and caring. I never saw Diane without a beautiful smile on her face. Diane was the sweetest person with a smile that was contagious. She always stopped to talk even when we were in a hurry. My favorite memory of her was about 2 yrs ago when she and 3 more came to Bowling Green to a Hot Rod's Game. It was an afternoon game and sooooo hot! Diane had this cute little hat on that of course matched her outfit. She later came up a few rows to where Danny and I were sitting just to talk. We laughed so hard and had the best time even though we were both just roasting in the sun. Diane you will be missed not only by your family but your friends and School Family. May God wrap his loving arms around your Son's, Mother, Tracy and Tommy during this difficult time. My friend, its not good bye, its we will see you soon!

Her boisterous laugh was infectious...she always went beyond and above all that was expected. For years she was the lady that organized the American Heart Association fundraiser and found seemed to find joy in helping others. I saw Diane instill a love of learning in so many students. She made learning fun yet had high expectations for each and every student. She will be greatly missed at CCES. Prayers and love to all her family and friends.
