BREMEN – Delbert Mae Stewart, 81, of Bremen went home to be with the lord on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Regional Medical Centre in Madisonville. He was born on May 18, 1931, in Muhlenberg County and was a retired coal miner, working at Amax Coal Company, Natomas Coal Company, Diamond Shamrock Coal Company and arch on the Green Coal Company ( all at the same location) from 1969 – 1988. Delbert was a devout Christian and a charter member of Powers Chapel General Baptist Church in Bremen, where he served at various times as deacon, treasurer, choir director, Sunday school superintendent and Sunday school teacher. He enjoyed carpentry and spending time outdoors fishing, tending to his garden and orchards, and riding his golf cart. Survivors include his wife Dorothy, sons, Terry (Lisa) Stewart and Gary ( Annette) Stewart, grandchildren, Amanda (Thomas) Shanks, Amy Stewart, Blake Stewart, Jordan Stewart and Travis (Shannon) Drake, a sister, Geneva Matheny of Madisonville. In addition to his parents, Hattie and Albert Stewart, Delbert was preceded in death by his brothers, Virgil, Charlie, Hubert, Jessie and Raymond, and his sisters, Louise Grundy and Dorothy St. Clair. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at the Powers Chapel General Baptist Church in Bremen, Conducted by Rev. J. W. Haire, Rev. Timmy Camplin and Rev. Tony St. Clair with burial to follow in Gish Cemetery in Bremen. Visitation will be after 5:00 PM, Tuesday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City and after 10:00 AM Wednesday at the Powers Chapel General Baptist Church.
