So sorry to hear of your loss. Our condolences to the entire Jones family and friends. Clay was truly one of the good guys and will be missed by all those that knew him.
I met Clay when he was 12 or 13 years old and knew then that he was a special young man, watched him grow up, watched him race his first car. He brought his race car to the house for Joey to work on it.. something about the bars and to make it go straight and Joey told me that he brought his rail too. I guess I wasn't at home or I just don't remember it. Clay and I traded blue jean jackets one time. I still have that jacket. He was about 16. Joey, me, Clay, and Robbie Macintosh when to Indy one year to watch the races. I think that's when we traded jackets. I don't know that Freida liked it. I remember her telling me "I gave $75 for that jacket." I said Clay wanted to trade so I traded him. Clay came to our threshing at Days Gone By. He said that he enjoyed it and that he wanted to bring his dad up to see it when he got better because he thought that his dad would really enjoy it. I myself enjoyed every minute I spent with Clay and will miss him greatly. Beech Bend won't be the same. As I told Dallas and Freida, "Earth has lost a fine, young man, but God has gained an awesome angel." My prayers go out to the family of Clay Jones and I hope you find peace and comfort in knowing that he's safely in the arms of Jesus. Love all of yall and may God bless you.
May God give your family the strength and courage to get through this difficult time.

I did not know Clay as well as most who are posting memories, but I am close friends with his nephew and niece, Broc and Brianne. I know they thought a lot of Clay and had nothing but good things to say when talking about him. I do have a memory of Clay, while in Bowling Green and looking for a place to live Clay let me and a friend stay at his house with Broc for about two months. He had no reason to do that for us but he did, that to me shows the kind heart he possessed. I have been and will continue to pray for his family and friends. Members of our church family here in Louisville will also lift the Jones family up in prayer.

Clay was a young man who never met a stranger. As busy as he was with his business, he always took time out to talk when he met you out somewhere. He was proud of his family and loved his community. I recall about a week after I bought my new car, one of his trucks had a piece of coal come off of it and it broke my windshield. I went up to his office and told him, he came out, looked at it and said "My goodness, this is a brand new car! You get this fixed and have them bill me, I'll take care of it." When I asked him didn't he want the truck number or anything, he just smiled and said, "Naw, I know you wouldn't lie to me about something like this." That was Clay, big hearted, trusting and a friend, no matter what. You will be missed Clay. You were and are loved by so many in the community where you were born, grew up, lived and worked. To the family, you are in our hearts and prayers, may God bring you peace and comfort in the coming days and weeks. God has gained an amazing Angel.

One memory: Clay always did his work and found something constructive to do in his spare time. Alfreda ask me one day if Clay talked incessantly at school. I told her no. She replied that he must save it up for home.

The last time I saw Clay he was six years old, playing at Alford and Viola's house. Everyone adored him. Alford and Viola would often talk about something cute that Clay had said or done. I have not seen Clay for all these years, but Viola kept me posted. I know his passing will leave a huge void in your family. I pray for each of you as you endure this tragic loss. Love, Barbara
