SACRAMENTO – Clayton H. Humphrey, 93, of Sacramento, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on Sunday, November 5, 2017, at Diversicare of Greenville. Mr. Humphrey was born June 22, 1924, in Bremen. He was the second child of Miller and Goldie Humphrey of Bremen. He was a lifelong member of Sacramento Baptist Church and loved his church family very much. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and served in the 75th Infantry Division. Clayton received two Purple Hearts while serving our country. He retired in 1986 after 32 years of service with International Steel in Evansville, IN. Clayton loved farming, gardening, and UK basketball. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 66 years, June Humphrey; eldest sister, Helen Bennett; brother Houston Humphrey; and youngest sister Joyce Brienstein. He is survived by his son, Steve (Beth) Humphrey of Bremen; daughter Kathy (Ricky) Payton of Bremen; grandsons Kyle (Hollie) Payton of Central City, Kaleb (Jenna) Payton of Central City, and Taylor Humphrey of Bremen; and two precious great-grandsons, Kyler Payton and Jay Payton of Central City. Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 8, 2017, at 11:00AM at Tucker Memorial Chapel in Sacramento, with Bro. Wendell Wood officiating. Burial in Sacramento Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-8PM at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributioins to Sacramento Baptist Cemetery. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
