DRAKESBORO – Reverend Carl Bernard Pendley, 94, of Drakesboro, went home to be with his Savior, our Lord Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at 4:00PM Owensboro Health Regional Hospital in Owensboro. He was born on June 18, 1924, in Butler County near Rochester, KY. He was a United States Army Veteran. He served in WWII and was on a ship, with many others, waiting for the orders to invade Japan when the war ended. He then took part in the Occupation of Japan. He was pastor of several Missionary Baptist Churches in Muhlenberg and surrounding counties: Browder, Ebenezer, Oak Forest, Huntsville, and Rochester. He was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Central City. He loved farming, raising cattle, raising a garden, reading his Bible and read it through numerous times, and he loved telling others about Jesus. He also loved his family very much. He retired from Gibraltar Coal Mines in 1987. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Maymee Lee Knight Pendley; daughter Karyl Lu Libs (Phillip) of Versailles; son Tommy Pendley of Drakesboro; two grandsons, Matthew Libs of Versailles and Adam Libs of Boulder, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Otto Pendley and Eva Hudnall Pendley; twelve brothers and sisters; and his daughter-in-law, Susan Lynn Pendley. Funeral services will be Monday, October 15, 2018, at 11:00AM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Bro. Scott Casebier officiating. Burial in Forest Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4-8PM at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Gideons International or American Diabetes Association.
