Judge James M Sutton Jr left a message on January 10, 2013:
Jenny -- we've not meet before. I sent C.T. a Christmas card which was returned; then I looked up his phone numbeer and was told "no longer in service:, then, I found this obituary, fortunately, on the unfortunate passing of a good friend. We went through the Southeast Signal School radio operator's training a Camp Gordon, GA., in 1954. We were in different companies, though, and it was not until we got to Camp Kilmer New Jersey that we met. I was stretched out on an upper bunk and suddenly felt the thrust of a boot to my backsides and it was "himself" kicking my bottom and saying "Let's go get a beer." That started a close friendship. If he ever told you about The Stille Nacht Fest when we returned to Salzburg Christmas eve 1955 in order to go to the little church where Franz Gruber wrote SIlent Night and to hear it played on the same organ and guitar Gruber was supposed to have played -- I was the guy who went with him and it was a wild experience for both of us. About fifteen years ago I attended a judicial seminar and met a University of Kentucky Law School schoolmate of Terry's who was on the Kentucky Suprreme Court and he told me about Terry and AA and his epiphany about drinking and ghe good work he did counseling lawyers with alcoholproblems. He and I corresonded fitfully over the decades -- I think our last correspondence was a couple of years ago and I knew from "over the years" he had married several times, but he assured me at long last he had found happiness and that he had the family life he had always wanted being married to you, which I thought was a very good thing. Even though he and I were separated by years and geography he will always be one of my most memorable friends. Cordially -- Jim Sutton

I first met Terry when I was 18 just before I moved to Ohio. Little did I know that over 30 yrs later when I moved back to KY I would work in his law office. He was not only an excellent Attorney, but a man who cared for his family and his fellow man. He was responsible for leading my son to AA and I am forever thankful for that. Terry will always be my son't hero because he was the one who had the "right words" that he needed to hear at a very dark time in his life. Terry was a man of honor and courage. Our community has not only lost a great leader, but a great friend who cared about those around him. My deepest sympathy to Jenny Lou and all the Earle children. Terry lived most for all of you. You were first and foremost in his heart. May God Bless you in this troubling time and bring you peace knowing that Terry will live on in the hearts of so many lives that he touched.
