BEECHMONT — Bobbie Ray Barber, 79, of Beechmont died at 6:40 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010, at his home. He was born June 15, 1931, in Muhlenberg County. He was a machinist at Habers & Bodine Electric in Chicago and an Army veteran. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Lavine; parents Otha Barber and Lelar Vaughn Barber; brothers Wallace, Robert Jr. and Harold Barber; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Survivors include his wife, Mary Alice Oglesby Barber of Beechmont; three daughters, Bonnie Piers of Wilkinson, Ind., and Betty (Patrick) Shelton and Pamela (Greg) Porter, all of Evansville; six grandchildren, Sabrina (Doug) Korlowicz, Brad Partin, Clay (Ashley) Partin, Monica (Beau) Tennant, Heather Shelton and Matthew Porter; a great-grandchild, Dalton Korlowicz; and three sisters, Gladys Knight of St. Louis, Jonell (James) Knight of Michigan and Linda (Earl) Taylor of Indiana. Services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with the Rev. Terry Chaney officiating. Burial will be in Peanut Cemetery.
