CALHOUN – Annetta “Lu” Hornsby-Markwell, 50, of Calhoun, died Monday, October 12, 2015, at 9:40AM at her home. Mrs. Markwell was born July 11, 1965, in Harlan County. She was a member of Calhoun Baptist Church. She loved to help people. She enjoyed working in the yard and had a green thumb. She always talked about her Lord. She opened her home and loved to help feed people. She loved her grandson, Landan, who was the light of her life. She was preceded in death by her father, Walter H. Hornsby; brother George Hornsby; and nephew Scotty Hornsby. She is survived by her mother, Jeanetta Hornsby of Central City; sons Adam (Natalie) Markwell of Bremen and Matthew Markwell of Calhoun; brothers Timothy Hornsby of Greenville, Melvin (Sherry) Hornsby of Central City, and Walter K. Hornsby of Central City; sister Donna (Jeff) Graham of Moorman; grandson Landan Markwell; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Thursday, October 15, 2015, at 11:00AM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Rev. David Fortner officiating, assisted by Rev. Brian McElwain.
