Alfred B. ‘Pete’ Smith Alfred B. Pete Smith, 86, of Owensboro, formerly of Russellville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior at 8:46 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born Oct. 2, 1922, in Penrod. Mr. Smith had retired from Boilermakers Local No. 40 in June 1984. While a boilermaker for TVA, he worked at several job sites, but mostly at Paradise. He was a member of Northside Church of Christ in Russellville and most recently attended Southside Church of Christ in Owensboro. His hobbies were working the Rubik’s Cube, telling tall tales at the Liars Table and trading stock on his computer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nedham Thomas Smith and Jessie Bradley Smith; brothers Theodore R. Smith, Edward B. Smith, John W. Smith and Warren G. Smith; and a sister, Susan Smith Pate. Survivors include two sisters, Iris Guernsey of St. George, Utah, and Irene Williamson of Philpot; two sisters-in-law, Mary Smith of Tempar, Mich., and Mayako Smith of Wilton, Conn.; nephews Gary Guernsey, John Williamson, Joseph Williamson and Jacob Williamson; nieces Ruth Ann Cox, Myra Smith, Rebecca Williamson and Rachael Williams-Wilson; several great-nieces and nephews; and several great-great-nieces and nephews. Services are at 1 p.m. Friday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Mr. Keith Burnett officiating. Burial will be in Mount Moriah Cemetery in Penrod.
