Dave and I will unfortunately not be able to be there, but we wanted to say how sorry we are for your loss. We have only known you guys for a short time, but in that time you have already made such an impact in our lives. You guys have been so wonderful and Tim will be missed. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers always! We will be here for you if you need anything at all!
Tim Robinson was a platoon sergeant at A Co 2/123rd at Livermore when I joined the Guard. He along with Bobby Neal and Steve McIvor were the platoon sergeants that made me want to be an NCO. They were the ones everyone turned to for answers. How is this suppose to look, how do we do this? They had the answer or knew where to find it. They set the standard in that unit. They were the example. They led by example. I still remember hearing “we are going to work hard and we are going to play hard.” On the night of the ceremony for the closing of Livermore the last ones there were Tim Robinson, Bobby Neal, Chris Meyer and me.
Every time you would run into him it was something to remember. He would bust your chops about something, smile, give you a hug, and then tell you what you were doing right or how proud he was of you. He made you want to be better and do more.
Even when I was the 1SG at 130th anytime we were at WHFRTC he would give me so much grief about something my unit was doing. But you always knew he was going to help you to fix what was wrong or solve a problem.
My favorite Tim story was as a young private back at A Co, we were at the WET Site up in the maneuver area. The unit was heading back to tents and the tanks were being lined up. Most of the unit was gone and Tim hopped into the drivers hole. Soon there was a huge plume of black smoke roaring out the back as he had the gas peddle to the floor. He slammed the tank into gear and it raised up with the front two road wheels off the ground! A tank wheelie! When he got out I ran up and said “I can’t wait to do that!” He looked at me and said “you ever do that and I will make sure you are a private forever.” Well, I never did try it. I didn’t want to see if he would follow through.
I know in my heart that you and Curtis Humphrey are together at the Green sharing stories and telling tales. RIP Tim.
Tim was a good friend to another of us young Sergeants and was never afraid to tell us how it was, Tim you will be missed dearly by all of us that served with you rest easy my friend we will take it from here.
