CENTRAL CITY – Stuart Judge Bohne’ passed away peacefully on February 14, 2019, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. Stuart was born on May 30, 1936, in Louisville, Kentucky. He was a graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Engineering. He also completed his freshman year at Duke. A long-time Central City businessman, Stuart and his wife, Jeanie, came to Central City in 1966 and he began his career with Lester Motors. Jeanie’s father, Bill Lester, had purchased the Ford dealership in 1952. Stuart served in several capacities with both the national and state automobile associations. He has been past president of the Central City Chamber of Commerce, Central City Lions Club, and Central City Country Club. He was one of the founding members of the Central City Mainstreet Program where he worked to enhance the business district. Perhaps his greatest contribution to the community was serving 17 years on the Central City Water Commission, with enhancements made that better served Central City and the entire county. He has been an active member of the Central City First United Methodist Church for over 50 years, and has served on numerous committees over the years. He is also a past board member of Lindsey Wilson College and for over 30 years served as a director of First National Bank. He was preceded in death by his parents, Philip Judge Bohne’ and Sue Schmitt Bohne’; and brother-in-law Dennis Lee Cummins. Stuart is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jeanie Lester Bohne’; daughters Michele (Vince) Taormina of St. Louis and their children, Vincent, Ann Katherine, and Claire, and Carolyn (Chris) McKee of St. Louis and their children, Christopher, Charlie, and Audrey; sister Susan Cummins; and nephews David Cummins and Jeff (Cindy) Cummins. Stuart was admired by many for his kindness, humility, and integrity. He was adored by his family, and was lovingly referred to as “Bo”. His passions included golf, a delicious meal, traveling, and time on the lake. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 23, 2019, at 12:00 noon at First United Methodist Church in Central City, with Rev. Tom Eblen officiating, assisted by Rev. Mark Jones. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday after 10:00AM at the church.
