William Collins left a message on July 14, 2018:
I am without words. We were stationed together in Japan. We were best pals, neighbors, rode to work together everyday. We were separated when we came back to the state, he went to South Carolina and I went to New Mexico but we still visited. We visited many times after we got out of the Air Force, he would come to Pikeville and I would go to Beechmont. We sort of lost touch these last few years. Our first children were born in Japan. I am deeply saddened and my heart goes out to his daughters and brother. God rest his soul.

When I moved from Central City to Browder, Steve was my very first best friend. We played basketball often and I visited him at his home . He was a gentle giant and had a heart of gold. May God grant love and understanding for his family.
