HATTIESBURG, MS – Randall DeWayne Cornette, or “Randy”, 68, of Hattiesburg, Mississippi passed away suddenly at his home on Sunday, May 12, 2024, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Randy was born in Greenville, Kentucky on May 1, 1956, to Durward and Veleda Cornette. He was a 1974 graduate of Greenville High School and attended Murray State University and was a Kentucky Colonel. He was employed with the Sherwin Williams Company for 36 years and started out as an Assistant Manager, working his way up to a District Manager. During his career, Randy won several Circle of Excellent Awards and the District Manager of the Year Award. Randy enjoyed and was proud of his long career with Sherwin Williams Company where he made many lifelong friends.
After retirement, Randy and his wife Sandy opened a small vintage antique business where they spent many hours working on restoring antiques. Randy enjoyed traveling, gardening, listening to music and cooking up big meals. He was a big fan of the New Orleans Saints and UK Basketball. His biggest love was his grandchildren, whom they called Papa C. He loved all of them dearly and thoroughly enjoyed just being with them and attending their events.
Randy was proceeded in death by his parents Durward and Veleda Cornette of Greenville, Kentucky. He is survived by his loving wife Sandra Curtis Cornette, his High School sweetheart, whom he was married to for almost 48 years. Randy and Sandy were blessed with four wonderful children Tim (Renee) Cornette of Long Beach, MS, Justin (Jill) Cornette of Jackson, MS, and twins Jon (Diana) Cornette of Madison, MS, and Jennifer (Ryan) Caillouet of Ocean Springs, MS. Randy’s immense joy were his grandchildren Avery Cornette, Isabella Cornette, Madelyn Caillouet, Tanner Cornette and Abigail Caillouet. He is also survived by his brother Daniel (Debbie) Cornette, and sisters, Patty (Mike) Wright and Lisa (Billy) Steele, all from Greenville, KY. He also is survived by several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He leaves behind his loving companion yellow lab Cooper and Kitty “KiKi”.
Visitation will be held at the Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, Kentucky on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, from 11:00AM CST to 1:00PM CST. Funeral services will begin at 1:00PM CST with Bro. Tom Stovall officiating and with burial to follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville, Kentucky.
