Sacramento – Raleigh “Tommy” Marion Bishop, 86, of Sacramento, died Friday, July 4, 2025 at 5:56a.m. at the Veteran’s Center in Hanson. Mr. Bishop was born November 19, 1938 in Louisville, Kentucky. He was a chief engineer on a barge line for Crounse Corporation and he was member of the Mt. Pisgah Church. When Tommy wasn’t spending quality time with his family, he’d enjoy golfing or watching Kentucky basketball, and attended gospel singing. He proudly served his country and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was preceded in death by both parents, his father Sam Bishop and mother Marie Capps; and his nephew, Justin Bishop.
He is survived by his darling wife of 59 years, Shirley Bishop; his daughter, Angela (Jeff) Stringer; his granddaughter, Dr. Haleigh (Sam) Stringer Shipp; his grandson, Todd Stringer; and his brother, John (Brinda) Bishop.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 8, at 11a.m. at Mt. Pisgah in Bremen with Bro. Bill Bursztynski officiating and Bro. Adam Brown assisting. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 5p.m. to 8p.m. at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, and Tuesday at 9a.m. at the church. Online condolences may be made at www.tuckerfuneralhomes.com.
