BREMEN – Perry Allen Shaver, formerly of Bremen, KY, died Monday, November 30, 2020, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, IN. His parents, Roy Allen and Barbara Shaver, preceded him in death. John Mark Shaver, Perry’s son and proud father of five children (Jacob, Wesley, Reagan, Holly, and Gracie), lives in Evansville with his wife Amanda. His sister Kathy Loney and husband Bill live in Henderson, KY. Their sons Joe (Micah) and Billy live in Bowling Green. Other family members include an aunt Marlene Shaver Wilkins of Bremen, widow of Fred Wilkins, their sons and families: Dwayne, Dwight and Keith; one uncle Bedford Vincent, widower of Mary Ruth Shaver Vincent; Bedford’s daughter, Dana Vincent Bartley of Bowling Green, and son Alan of Bremen; and step-mother Reba Shaver of Bremen. Perry’s maternal grandparents were Rev. L.P. Whitaker and Eva Laura Whitaker of Bremen. Perry was born on September 8, 1947. He enjoyed an active life living beside his grandparents, Thelma and Halbert Shaver, and working with his father Roy at Shaver’s Market. Perry was baptized as a youth at Bethlehem Baptist Church and was a lifelong member there. He loved sports and played basketball at Bremen High School. Graduating in 1965, he enrolled at WKU where he was elected freshman class president and was active in Sigma Chi fraternity. In 1967 Perry and Gail Reynolds were married at Parrish Avenue Baptist Church in Owensboro, KY. In 1969 their son John Mark was born. Perry worked in Muhlenberg County for Kentucky Utilities before moving to Louisville. He later worked in law enforcement for the Lake Worth, FL police department receiving multiple commendations for his work. In Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, he worked in retail management. Declining health led to an early retirement from management with Walmart in New York. He returned to Kentucky living for a while at the Courtyard in Central City. Perry is remembered for his generous heart and lively social abilities, even staying in touch with others via social media in his last years. He loved to ride motorcycles, cook and follow sports. Services are postponed due to the pandemic. Interment with the family will be at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery. Tucker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
