CENTRAL CITY – Mary Alice Davis, 80, of Central City, entered her heavenly home Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at 5:40AM at Ohio County Hospital. Mrs. Davis was born October 29, 1938, in Muhlenberg County. She was a clerk at Bible Book Mark in Central City. Mary was preceded in death by her first husband, Lucien Gregory, husband Bennie Davis, son Mark Shannon Davis, sisters Nell Sallee and Clara Mae McDonald, brother Paul Arnett, and beloved cats of 21 years, Mama Cat and Lucy. She is survived by her daughter, Allison Davis of Owensboro and several nieces and nephews. The most important things to Mary were her faith and family. She was proud to be a charter member of Lighthouse Baptist Church where she and Bennie served in the bus ministry and she served as primary age Sunday school teacher for many years. Mary also enjoyed providing meals for visiting missionaries and her specialties were her dressing and chess pie. She enjoyed traveling and her favorite family vacation destination was St. Augustine, FL. If going to Owensboro, a trip to Hobby Lobby was a must as she enjoyed decorating. Family celebrations for holidays and birthdays were important because of the love shared in her family. The highlight of Mary’s life the last nine years has been her great-niece, Lilly Whittinghill, whom brought her much happiness and many smiles. The family would like to thank Dr. Alex Argotte, Dr. Kevin Gregory, and the nursing staff of Ohio County Hospital, along with Angela Coffman of Ohio County Hospice for their compassionate care during such a difficult time. Graveside funeral services will be Saturday, March 16, 2019, at 2:00PM at Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City, with Bro. Matt Adams officiating, assisted by Beverly Gish. Burial to follow.
