I am so sorry to hear about Leslie Koonce passing. We both served in Iraq together in 2003. I did not know of his passing until 11-12-2025 when SFC David Williams from Decatur Alabama informed me of his passing. SFC Williams was our Platoon SGT when we were stationed in Iraq. I will be sending flowers to the Tucker Funeral Home in Central City Kentucky to his family in remembrance to SGT Koonce. SGT Shirley Grant/Military Police/Retired.

I worked with Leslie at APG when he was activated after 9-11, he made the long shifts enjoyable with that Koonce humor and flair. Leslie was one of a kind and the world is a lesser place without him in it. God Bless, prayers for family and friends.

I am praying for the family. I am Eden’s aunt on Shawna’s side. I didn’t know Leslie as well as my sister Shawna or Eden of course, but I knew enough about him to know he was a good man and a great father. I was told he wanted to be a dad for so many years and it never happened and finally Eden came along. He was the best dad to her so Leslie was alright in my book. I have one memory that stands out to me most about him. I remember when Eden was born and her and my sister were staying at Vanderbilt hospital. Leslie came and I don’t know if that day was the first day he met Eden, all I can remember is he was excited. My mom was a force lol she was worried for Shawna and Eden & Leslie calmed my mom down and told my mom she had nothing to worry about. He was always there for Eden from that point on. Also what I knew of him he would do anything for anybody. I pray God is with my niece, my sister and Leslie’s wife and family.

Leslie was a great man with integrity and love in his heart. I’m sorry for his family & friends but I know his pain and suffering is over as he’s rejoicing with our Lord. I had the pleasure of knowing Leslie for about 40 yrs from kindergarten @ Bremen to our graduating class of 1999 @ Muhlenberg North. I always enjoyed running into him afterward. He was always funny and had something that would make you laugh. He’ll be missed but we will get to see him again soon enough. Rest Easy Brother
Sierra Jordan left a message on November 8, 2025:
Leslie was the kindest man. He made our summers the best weather that was visiting us in Ohio or us coming to a Kentucky to spend the summer. He’d take us to fair and get us prizes it is one of my most favorite memories with him. I will always remember he was the one to teach me to catch a football at grandma Jordans when him and my brother Christopher were playing catch. I will miss him dearly.
