CENTRAL CITY – Lena Mae Johnson Alexander, our precious Mom, was escorted by Angels to Heaven on Friday, April 19, 2019, at 3:10AM at Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital. She was 101. She was born on September 15, 1917, in McHenry, KY. She was a homemaker and a good cook, especially remembered for her delicious homemade biscuits and yummy chocolate meringue cream pies. She was a faithful member of Martwick Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Betty Ann (1939); her dad, Claude B. Johnson (1944); her sister, Alma Lucille Johnson Sublett (1963); her mom, Myrtle Maddox Johnson Kellems (1986); and her husband, “the love of her life for 72 years”, Jerdon Levi Alexander (2006). Mom was the “sunshine” of her home to her four children, Claudis Levi of Albuquerque, NM, Charles Ray of Plattsburg, NY, Jerry Wayne of Nelson, and Linda Sue of Greenville; and 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at 11:00AM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Bro. Matt McIntosh officiating. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday after 5:00PM at the funeral home.
