CENTERTOWN – Josephine Ellis Roe, 99, of Centertown died Thursday, December 7, 2023 at 8:43AM at her residence. She was born December 30, 1923 in Sacramento, KY. She graduated from Sacramento High School and during WWII she riveted Naval plane wings and later worked at GE. Primarily she was a homemaker and farmer. She was a member of Centertown United Methodist Church. Josephine loved playing Pinochle, watching her “soaps” (ABC soaps). She was an amazing cook – after much trial and error. Everyone loved her pear preserves and tomato juice. She gardened and enjoyed telling stories. She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Curtis Roe; one infant son, Warren Curtis Roe, Jr.; parents, Floyd and Margie Ellis; and nine siblings.
She is survived by her two sons, Wallace Ellis Roe (Tina) of Bloomington, IN and Joseph Michael Roe (Kelly) of Centertown, KY; grandchildren, Sara Kelly Roe of KY, Michael Lannon Roe of NC, and Brandon Burge Roe of IN; one great-granddaughter, Audrey Josephine Roe of KY; nieces and nephews; and many cherished friends.
Funeral services will be Monday, December 11, 2023 at 11AM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Bro. Mike Atkins officiating and Bro. Charlie Taylor assisting. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery.
