The Rev. John Yuhas GREENVILLE — The Rev. John Yuhas, 89, of 217 Bonham Ave., Greenville, died at 6:20 p.m. Monday, April 6, 2009, at Maple Manor Healthcare, Greenville. He was born Nov. 11, 1919, in Johnson City, Ill. The Rev. Yuhas pastored Garvinwood General Baptist Church in Evansville, Sloan Street General Baptist Church in Harrisburg, Ill., Dover Chapel General Baptist Church in Louisville, Green River Chapel General Baptist Church in Central City, Bard Hill General Baptist Church in Greenville and New Harmony General Baptist Church in Clifty. He also pastored a church in East Alton, Ill. He was a veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche Yuhas; a son, John Michael Yuhas; and a sister, Mary Juday. Survivors include a daughter, Karyl Yuhas of Greenville; two grandchildren, John Nelson of Evansville, Ill., and Brandon Nelson of Greenville; five great-grandchildren, Victoria McPherson, Christian Nelson, Steven Nelson, Grace Nelson and Mackenzie Nelson; a brother, Ernest Yuhas of Harrisburg, Ill.; and a sister, Helen Coakley of Cranston, R.I. Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Tucker Funeral Home, Central City, with the Rev. Virgil E. Wright officiating, assisted by the Rev. Tony Evitts and the Rev. Don McGhee. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg. Visitation is after 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
