CLEATON – On Friday, August 18th, 2023, Jimmie Armour Sr., 76, of Cleaton, KY, passed away encircled by love while in the Owensboro Health Regional Hospital after a hard-fought battle with Pancreas Cancer. Jimmie was a source of love and light to those that knew him. He was a kind man that brought an assured smile with his easy laughter and cheerful disposition.
Jimmie was born November 28, 1946 in Muhlenberg County, attended Spring Ridge School, and served his Country in the Army and during the Vietnam War. He was an avid lover of the small town of Cleaton, which he had called home since 1971. On any given day, you could find him working on an old car or truck in his garage, which he felt passionate about bringing back to life. His garage bay door welcomed everyone for a conversation. He was a man that loved to meet new people or see the people he already knew. He was a friend to everyone.
Jimmie is survived by his companion Susan Lott and two sons and a daughter, Jimmie Armour Jr., Joey Armour, and Christina Armour Groves. Also surviving Jimmie are those that joined him as family along the way: Michelle Armour, Dana Armour, Brad Groves, and Millie Boyken. He found great pride in being a grandfather to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Jammie, Angel, Lane, Landon, Madyson, and Caitlyn. With a large extended family, he was a man of greatest joy, surrounded by the ones he loved. He is also survived by his sister Barbara Baugh of Indianapolis, a sister Sue Todd of Central City; a brother Earl (Penny) Armour of South Carrollton; a brother Bobby (Debbie) Armour of Central City; and a brother and best friend, Danny (Lisa) Armour of Central City. Many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews also survive this loving uncle.
Preceding Jimmie in death are his father and mother, Vernon and Dorothy Armour, his brother Donnie Armour, and two brothers-in-law, Larry Baugh, and Paul Todd.
May the memories we each made and hold onto remind us how blessed we were to have Jimmie in our lives.
