CENTRAL CITY – J.E. Rhoades, 91, of Central City, died Thursday, December 12, 2019, at 9:37AM at his daughter’s residence. Mr. Rhoades was born May 19, 1928, in Muhlenberg County. He was a retired electrical engineer for TVA, and a member of Cherry Hill Baptist Church. He was also a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Rhoades; infant daughter Adella Rhoades; daughter Debra Rhoades; and son Thomas J. Rhoades. He is survived by his son, Tony (Shelly) Rhoades of Bowling Green; daughter Terri (Kevin) Rice of Central City; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Sunday, December 15, 2019, at 2:00PM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Bro. Ron Metheny officiating, assisted by Tony Rhoades and Kevin Rice. Burial in Shaver’s Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday after 10:30AM at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.tuckerfuneralhomes.com.

The Rhoades family invited me to their home for Christmas one year. I was a Sigma Chi fraternity member and Tony G. was my Big Brother in the Fraternity. I was welcomed with open arms and treated as if I was one of the family. I had a great meal, which every college kid needs, but they gave me Christmas gifts and the whole works. This threw me totally off guard because I'm sure I didn't have a penny to my name. They were the best host I could have ever dreamed of. I will be eternally grateful for their kindness. Prayers to all the family. I know he will be terribly missed. A true Southern gentleman in my eyes. Godspeed my Friend.
