BREMEN – Gilda Gray Peveler Nelson, 89, of Bremen, died Saturday, October 15, 2016, at 7:53PM at her home. Mrs. Nelson was born March 20, 1927, in Uniontown, Kentucky. She was a homemaker and member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. She was known as “Mom Gil” to all. She was very active in her church and community. She was very supportive of her husband throughout his political offices. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Charolette Jean Miller; and parents Wilbur and Opal Peveler. She is survived by her husband of 74 years, former State Representative and Muhlenberg County Coroner Charles “Preacher” Nelson; son Joe Mack (Mischelle) Nelson of Bremen; grandchildren Melanie (Troy) Curtis of St. Louis, MO, Jean Kevin (Rhymz) Miller of California, Jenni Nelson (Allan) Hale of Greenville, and Amy Fields of Bremen; great-grandchildren Sierra Curtis of St. Louis, Addi Jo Hale of Greenville, and Macy Fields of Bremen; step-great-grandson Austin Hale of Louisville; brother William “Billy” (Barbara) Peveler of Greenville; several nieces and nephews; and sweet angel caregiver, Yvonne Hobgood. Funeral services will be Thursday, October 20, 2016, at 2:00PM at Bethlehem Baptist Church, with Bro. Leroy Rearden officiating, assisted by Rev. Troy Slinker. Burial in Bethlehem Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-8PM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Mrs. Nelson will lie in state at Bethlehem Baptist Church on Thursday after 11:00AM.
