DRAKESBORO – Era Belle Travis, 93, of Drakesboro, died Tuesday, February 19, 2019, at 11:10PM, at Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital. Mrs. Travis was born June 6, 1925, in Muhlenberg County. She was a lunch room cook at Drakesboro School for over 30 years and member of Gospel Tabernacle Church in Russellville for 43 years. Mrs. Travis loved her family, especially all the grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She told her family that her heart always grew a little more each time a child was born into the family. She also loved to cook family meals. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Ethel Johnson Whitney; first husband, William “Billy” Howard Revlett, who she was married to from 1942 – 1953; second husband Dottson William “D.W.” Travis, who she was married to from 1956 – 1988); children David Travis, Alton Travis, and Billy Travis; grandchildren Brenda Travis and Kelly Travis; and brothers and sisters Juanita Walker, Pauline Proctor, Viginia Dillinger, Betty Miller, and Cicel Whitney. She is survived by her children, Jimmy Howard (Dorothy) Revlett of Drakesboro, Sonja Ann (Howard) McIntosh of Penrod, and Dorris Wayne Travis; brother James Whitney; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Friday, February 22, 2019, at 11:00AM at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home, with Bro. Craig Jackson officiating. Burial in Ebenezer Cemetery.
