BREMEN- Donald “Donnie” Watkins, 69, of Bremen died Friday, January 22, 2021 at 3:49 AM at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Donnie was the youngest of eleven children and was born October 1, 1951 in Muhlenberg County. He was of the Baptist faith, but in his own words, his faith was of “The Church of A Kind Heart”. He was preceded in death by his parents, Goble and Lucille Watkins; brothers, James “Jimbo” Watkins, William “Bill” Watkins, Edgar “Lee” Watkins; sister, Sue Middleton; two half sisters, Virginia Brown, Edna Klink. He is survived by his daughter, Shawna (Glenn) Cisney of Bremen; granddaughter, Taylor Cisney of Bremen; brother, Mike Watkins of Midland; sisters, Ann Martin of Madisonville, Dean Tucker of Bremen; Wilda Walley of Bremen; special friend, Denise Jernigan. He also leaves behind a small village of nieces and nephews and his four legged friend, Chloe. He never met a stranger and had a smile for everyone that he encountered. He was respected and appreciated and loved. He was a giver. The takers may always eat better, but the givers will always sleep better. Always be a giver. He was not one to judge and believed that everyone deserved a chance. He wanted to see everyone win in life, and if he could help make that happen, he did. He loved his sweets and had been known to eat a whole chocolate cake by himself a time or two. He loved to cook for those he loved and never turned down a good jar of shine. He enjoyed riding his Harley, hunting, music and a great knowledge of history. He was a story teller, telling the best of stories. Some, you had to see to believe. He touched many lives during this journey with wisdom, happiness, warmth, and love. Now, onto his next, he will join those he touched that passed before him and will be celebrating in the streets of Gold. Most of all, he was a great dad and papaw. With ears that listened, a hand to always hold, a love that was never ending and a heart that was made of gold. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Rev. Jeff Calhoun officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Bremen. Visitation will be held Tuesday beginning at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Online condolences can be made at www.tuckerfuneralhomes.com. Shawna and family I'm sorry for your loss . I didn't know Donnie as well as some but the few times I was around him he seemed to make everyone in the conversation smile or laugh about something before it was over. I hope the happiness and joy he showed throughout life helps keep your spirits up in the difficult days ahead. He will be deeply missed.

I describe Donnie as an intelligent, kindhearted man who left a wonderful impression we all should follow. He never hesitated on helping another, even if risk was involved. He was there if you needed him, no doubting him ever. I was so blessed to have him as a friend. He was a wonderful mentor to everyone that knew him. I am deeply sadden by his loss. To Shawna & Taylor, I pray your grief eases soon and you can enjoy the wonderful memories he left for you to remember. My deepest love & sympathy goes out to both of you...

To my cousin Shawna, I am so sorry for your loss Uncle Donnie was a GREAT man, a one of a kind and I will miss him. Any time I seen him he always would cut up and joke with me and was always glad to see me. He always made me feel welcomed. He was, is and always will be my favorite uncle. Uncle Donnie I am going to miss you.

I just wanted to say I'm so very sorry for your loss. Donnie was an awesome Person and I am proud to call him a friend. He will be missed very much. He was always there with a listening ear and great on advice. So sorry to all the family but most of all his daughter Shawna granddaughter Taylor and to Denise.

They say the only man a girl can count on is her daddy. However, with Donnie as an uncle, I was blessed to have an exception to that general rule. He was steadfast, solid, selfless. He had a firm but kind hand, and he never minced words. I'll miss the talks, the stories, the laughs, and knowing I had somewhere to go chill where words weren't expected when life just gets to be too much. Us kids, we were raised by a village. I'm so very grateful for the values and moral codes that he had a huge hand in teaching me, and for the wisdom and guidance he himself imparted. He's loved and missed deeply, and this world is less without him.

So sorry for your loss! There's nothing I can say to make your hurt any better! I know he loved his family Shawna and granddaughter Cisney! They were the love of his life!! Just remember all the stories he told you'll that made everyone laugh and his big smile as he told them! Keep all the memories close to your heart and you'll have them forever!
