Deborah Sunshine Leach

December 21, 1954 - October 16, 2025

GREENVILLE – Deborah Sunshine Leach, 70, of Greenville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 16, 2025 at Riverside Healthcare and Rehab in Calhoun. Deborah was born December 21, 1954 in Henderson, KY to the late A.D. “Buz” and Vivian Burton.

Deborah graduated from Muhlenberg Central High School in 1973 and went on to attend college at Murray State and Western Kentucky Universities. Upon completion of her degree, she became an auditor for the State of Kentucky where she worked 26 years until her retirement in 2009. Deborah was well known for her love of music, gardening, and cooking. She cared deeply for her family and loved to talk to them and debate on a wide variety of topics. She is survived by her sisters Candy Harvey and Tamara Doffek, Niece – Tazia Jones, Nephews – Stephen Harvey, Joshua Morrow, Jonathan Harvey, Adam Harvey and Ryan Doffek as well as five great-nephews.

Private Memorial service will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be made at www.tuckerfuneralhomes.com. In lieu of flowers: Donations may be made to Owensboro Symphony Orchestra or Prager U in her memory. Tucker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Candy and Tamara, so sorry to hear this news. I was a classmate of Deb’s at Muhlenberg Central. We started college together at Murray as roommates until she had a severe case of mono and had to go home. I was so surprised when we moved into the dorm and she was introducing herself as Sunshine (not Deborah). While in high school she had tried to keep her middle name a secret. The last time we talked there at Sunset Park, she was all praises for her sisters and how much her whole family was caring for her.

Debbie was one of two cousins that I spoke with on a regular basis any no matter how I was feeling,she always managed to make me laugh and feel better that I was when I called her. She will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her .

Deb was an indomitable spirit in trying Life circumstances. She valued honesty, sharing friends, a good story, enlightened conversation, and a great recipe. When I talked with Debbie, I always looked forward to the next time. May she find the wings of mobility, and the peace she sought.

I did not know Debbie but I do know Tammy and my heart goes out to her and her family as they navigate this loss. God Bless them and Debbie.

I’m so grateful I had the opportunity to meet this amazing woman! I’m so blessed that I was able to help care for her during her time at Riverside. Oh how I’m gonna miss you, Sunshine! Jeremiah loved you so so much!

I am so sorry for your loss. I remember Debbie from our days in the Muhlenberg Central marching band. She was a remarkable person.
