CENTRAL CITY – David Wayne Smith, 57, of Central City, died Monday, August 30, 2021, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN.  Mr. Smith was born July 12, 1964, in McLean County.  He was custodian supervisor at Bremen Elementary School.  He loved to work at the school.  He enjoyed being outside and anything that involved his grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Tesla Green; and parents David and Cleta Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy; daughters Amy (Wesley) Garrett and Hannah Green; grandchildren Braydon Green, Faith Green, and Raylee Romans; and sisters Anita Smith and Kathy Smith.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at 11:00AM at Tucker Memorial Chapel in Sacramento, with Bro. Leroy Rearden officiating.  Burial in Gish Cemetery.  Visitation will be Wednesday after 9:00AM at the funeral home.  The family requests that only immediate family attend the visitation and funeral.  Online condolences may be made at www.tuckerfuneralhomes.com.

School will not be the same without David. I will probably cry anytime someone else comes in my office to empty my trash!! He was always so loud and obnoxious!! I have too many memories to narrow it down to just one. He loved to pick and I enjoyed picking back. I feel like he is passing the torch to me to take over scaring everyone, but it just won't be as effective!! He was truly loved here and will be greatly missed!!!!

I am very sorry for David's loss. I have worked with him at Bremen Elementary School for the last 20 or so years, and there wasn't anyone who could match David as a hard worker who was very dependable and friendly in his own way. I am going to miss him very much, and I know that I am not the only one. Prayers for comfort for his family.
