BELTON – Cathy Schlessman, 67, of Belton, passed away at 9:47PM on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at her home. Ms. Schlessman was born May 25, 1956 in Nashville, TN. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and worked as a Graphic Artist. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, and astronomy. She loved her dogs, was the co-leader of RCIA at her church, and was very active in Cursillo for decades. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary Byerley; and brothers, Joseph Byerley, and Timothy Byerley.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Schlessman; and son, Charlie Stamps of Louisville.

Funeral/Mass Services will be Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at 10AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Central City with Father John Ighacho officiating and Deacon Don Adams assisting. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 5-8PM at the church with prayers at 7:30PM. Visitation will also be on Tuesday at the church at 8AM until the time of the service. St. Joseph Catholic Church will prepare a meal following the services. Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church. Online Condolences may be made at www.tuckerfuneralhomes.com. Tucker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Rick and Charlie, I am so sorry for your loss. I just found out yesterday, and so sad I wasn't there for you all. Cathy was my dear friend who I not only loved but admired her love for all things. I have so many special memories with all of you, visiting at the cabin going to see Charlie and most of all just enjoying being together. There wasn't anything we couldn't do together. She lit up any room she walked into, and beautiful inside and out. Please know you and Charlie will be in my prayers that you find comfort in your memories and love shared. Love you all.

Sweet Aunt Cathy- you are dearly missed. I will always smile remembering your soft Tennessee lilt calling out your loving husband "Ri-i-ck" as a three-syllable-word. Our prayers for peace to Rick and Charlie.

Dear Rick, Charlie and Family Our deepest condolences on your loss. Cathy was such a beautiful and special lady. We were so blessed when her mother, Mary, and her family became part of OUR family. Cathy was always such a positive person, sharing her wonderful personality with all those around her. Her deep and abiding faith and love of God was an inspiration to all those who knew her. Our hearts and prayers go out to Rick and Charlie. Cathy with Rick right beside her has fought this battle together. The love they had shined in so many ways as they came together as a loving couple church, church events and RCIA leaders. Cathy was a wonderful lady with a welcoming smile and open heart for everyone. We will miss her on Saturday night Mass. I know without a doubt she was welcomed with open arms at the gates of heaven. A wonderful mom and a gracious lady. I will always remember we said when we had our picture taken with Elvis ..our hearts 💕 were fluttering.

Cathy was one of the most loving, kind, patient, forgiving people I’ve ever known. I thanked her many times for marrying my brother. She will remain part of my heart forever. Rick and Charlie I am so sorry for your loss ❤️
