CENTRAL CITY – Carole Ann Shemwell, age 69, passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2019, at her residence, after an extended illness. Carole Ann was born on September 20, 1949, to Agnes and Morton Keown. She attended Central City High School where she was a cheerleader and majorette for several years. Carole Ann went on to enjoy a successful career as a cosmetologist. She enjoyed camping, traveling on motorcycles, arts and crafts, and adored her family. She was a member of Green River Chapel Church. Carole Ann is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, Darrell Shemwell, two daughters, Angela Shemwell of Greenville and Gina Shemwell of Louisville; two grandchildren, Chris Freels of Central City and Amber Friend of Cagyne, KS, and a great-granddaughter, Ryleigh Faith Freels. Survivors also include two sisters, Patty Heflin and Elizabeth Wiggins (Jerry) and a brother, William Keown and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Shemwell was preceded in death by her father, John Morton Keown and mother, Agnes Nofsinger and step-father Denzel Nofsinger. Services will be held Thursday, September 19, 2019, at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Rev. Jewel Martin officiating.
