My condolences to the family. Ben was my first Area Director when I was hired in 1984 to become the 4 H agent in Daviess County. He was always a great mentor and supported me in my early career. He was very supportive when I applied and was hired as the Daviess County Ag Agent. He was a real gentleman and I owe a lot of my career success in Extension and current Banking career to to his early support,

Ben was a great friend and mentor to me when I joined the UK extension administrative team some years ago. He looked out for the younger generation and gave lots of sound advice. He was well respected and admired by all who knew him. He will be missed. Sending prayers for comfort to his family.

I wish that I could have known Ben, the Renaissance Man. I think we could have become friends. However, I have had the pleasure of meeting his favorite daughters and two of his beautiful grandchildren and as the idiom avers, "The apple does not fall far from the tree". Rest in peace, Gentle Ben.
