DRAKESBORO – Anna Novella Pendley, 84, passed away peacefully at her home in Drakesboro on Wednesday, July 21, 2021. Mrs. Pendley was born during the Great Flood, May 8, 1937 in Paradise, KY. She was a dedicated employee of the Muhlenberg County Board of Education for 29 years, where she worked as the Secretary of Longest Elementary and Muhlenberg South High School. She loved her family fiercely, and was gracious and kind to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She was a faithful member of Riverside Missionary Baptist Church since 1960, in which she once served as Youth Leader and Secretary. Mrs. Pendley was an avid traveler and loved taking the scenic route to new places. She was also famous for her “Mamaw Noots” cooking, and no one could leave her house hungry. Mrs. Pendley was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Ralph Pendley; son Jimmy Ray Pendley and daughter Jennifer Kay Pendley; parents Sandy and Nettie Knight Wood; brother Paul Wood; sisters Mabel and Nelda Wood and Velma Cundiff.
She is survived by daughter Judy (Darrell) Chapman of Drakesboro; grandchildren Kristy (Bryan) Rainwater of Drakesboro, Jeremy (Crystal) Pendley of White Plains, Erica Pendley Adams of Greenville and Maryanna (Clint) Moryl of Benton; daughter-in-law Donna Pendley, seven great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 24, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at Riverside Missionary Baptist Church in Drakesboro with Bro. Greg Brooks officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
